TRAINING WEEKS
Jack calls Joel from Tokyo to recap his World Athletics Championships experience, while Tess, Nick and for his FTK debut, Pulse Running athlete Myles Leyden record together to recap their Berlin Marathon race.
BIG Q
Friend Of The Show Delaney Pratt writes in to ask our thoughts on using fuel belts for marathon races over the analog version - grabbing cups as you run past.
GIVE SOME KUDOS
No surprises here - Jack gives his Kudos to Mt Fuji...while Joel surprised Jack sending his kudos to...Jack (that's a difficult sentence to read). In the Berlin recording Myles sends his Kudos to Sean White, while Tess boosts up her German Pulse athlete Natalie that she met in person before the race. Nick closes out by simping to both his partner Tess and his coach Jack (two in one episode???)
TWHSOITWTWATSA
Jack brings up a video of the American T&F fan that documents his hatred towards the Australian sprint team, while Joel brings up a funny Strava screenshot from one of Brett's runs this week. Tess kicks off the Berlin crew's segment by calling out Trump's speech on curing autism. Nick calls out an Instagram page from an Ohio based engineer who has dug a mine in her own property (this is very on brand for FTK). Myles closes out the episode bringing it back to running related content with his submission of two famous German brothers who took the piss out of the Berlin Marathon.

This episode is brought to you by Pillar Performance.
Episode #164 sees the FTK '25 crew all back together in the one recording for the first time in a month (Tess: "ONLY THREE WEEKS").
TRAINING WEEKS
Jack takes the listeners through his training week which deviates from its normal structure as he balances Japan's summer with just enough training to keep the body in prime shape for this week's World Athletics Championships 5000m heat. After sharing her training week with partner Nick last week, Tess gets the chance to update Jack & Joel on her fitness levels before Berlin Marathon. Joel wraps up the segment with an update on how his sacrum is healing.
BIG Q
Due to internet connection issues Brett & Joel fill in for the crew here. They (mostly Brett) answer a question submitted anonymously on the reason behind the "disappointing" result of our men's 1500m team in Tokyo.
GIVE SOME KUDOS
The tech-professional Tess highlights a running app, while Jack talks up a feature of his running watch. Joel sends his big-ups in the direction of Straight At It / Mitch Dyer for his impressive work on the ground in Tokyo.
TWHSOITWTWATSA
Jack isn't sure about Santa narrating a video from a Kenyan athlete while Tess isn't sure about Uruguayan athlete's confusion after crossing the line in the Women's Marathon in Tokyo. Joel closes the episode out with a real-life story from one of his athletes in a recent trail race on the Surf Coast of Victoria.

Episode #163 has Jack, Joel & Tess split up into two seperate recordings due to Jack's last minute flight changes to Tokyo. Jack & Joel record the entire episode together while Tess and her boyfriend Nick record their training weeks together as Tess gears up for Berlin marathon.
TRAINING WEEKS
Joel recaps his Sydney Marathon / fishing trip adventures before Jack takes the listeners through his recent 3000m race. No rest for the wicked as Jack jumps straight into a nighttime k reps session post-race. On the other side of the world, Tess and Nick keep each other honest during their training week, full of banter, bickering and shockingly some support for each other.
GIVE SOME KUDOS
Jack gives Kudos to Tokyo Airlines while Joel sends his to Sydney Japanese restaurant Gogyo which then leads to a discussion on how fantastic bench seating is at restaurants (not for more than three people though).
BIG Q
This week Jack and Joel take the listeners through how they program their athletes training weeks post goal marathon race. Is it better to take a full week off? Should you jog? When should you return to workouts? All this and (not much more) is answered.
TWHSOITWTWATSA
Jack isn't sure about a certain somebody's need to research instructions before setting up a sent while Joel isn't sure about a certain somebody's posed photograph inside a record store.

This episode is brought to you by Pillar Performance.Episode #162 brings a shake-up! Tess takes the hosting seat with Jack and Jude by her side. The trio kick things off with a Sydney Marathon recap and a little Europe catch-up.
TRAINING WEEKS
Jude and Jack are back at it with near-identical sessions and a monster 160k week. Tess? Let’s just say her lead-up to the Berlin Marathon is more fast and loose than structured…
GIVE SOME KUDOS
Zero running kudos this week- yep, you heard that right. Instead: Jude’s shouting out a local burrito legend, Tess is all about Greek pharmacies, and Jack’s got a sneaky Lime bike/scooter hack you’ll want to steal.
BIG Q
The crew helps Tess settle a dinner-table debate she’s been having with Nick while abroad.
TWHSOITWTWATSA
Jude can’t quite figure out a viral Bob Katter interview, Jack’s baffled by Sifan Hassan’s cap antics before Sydney Marathon, and Tess is side-eyeing a US Open blunder.
...and to top it all off, one of our co-hosts drops a special announcement you’ll definitely want to hear

2hr 4 min
This episode is brought to you by Better Beer. FTK will be at Tarpeian Lawn, Botanic Gardens post Sydney Marathon at approx 10:30am.Could this be our longest episode ever? (Possibly but we've been too busy this week to check). Also FTK apologises for the delayed release of this episode. I know he hasn't been contacted in quite some time but Jordy Williamsz is still accepting any complaints.
TRAINING WEEKS
Jude steps in to replace Tess for this week's episode. Both Jack and Jude recap their race and pacing jobs respectively while leaving plenty of time for non-running-related discussions, as the trio constantly find themselves in fits of laughter.
JESS STENSON INTERVIEW
Brett & Riley hear what Jess Stenson has been up to recently in their chat. They talk about the huge international stars she'll be lining up against while also discussing about the "race within a race" among the Aussie elite contingent.GIVE SOME KUDOS
Jack shoots his kudos to Linden Hall after her amazing performance, Joel sends his towards Cronulla hosts Kevin, Jaimie and their dog Steve while Jude moves the attention away from human beings and highlights the effort put into the course for Australian Cross Country Championships in Ballarat.
TWHSOITWTWATSA
No athlete is safe this week as we close out the episode with Jack questionining a certain Australian athlete's testing of "the solo table theory". Jude is unsure of the winner of a Victorian Cross Country Championship race and Joel isn't sure why Brett had to highlight his calf muscles in a recent story upload.

Haftu Strintzos - #160

Aug 21, 2025
1hr 24 min
This episode is brought to you by ShokzThe episode kicks off with plenty of random life updates from the three hosts before Joel takes the listeners on a deeper dive into exactly what FTK has planned while they're up in Sydney.
TRAINING WEEKS
Tess training week is interrupted constantly by Jack and Joel, yet many of their questions are left unanswered. Despite all the travel Tess manages to get some decent training in as she prepares for Berlin Marathon. Jack takes us through his last week in Hoyos as altitude/cabin fever has well and truly set in. For the first time this year we decide to leave one of Jack's audio drop-outs in so the listeners can understand the chaos that happens behind the scenes. Joel closes out the segment updating the listeners on where he's at with his stress fracture and shares a very frustrating health-insurance related story.
HAFTU STRINTZOS INTERVIEW
As explained on the episode we decided to skip The Big Q this week as we didn't want our conversation with Haftu to be lost in a sea of typical FTK ridiculousness. Brett and Joel chat with Haftu about his disappointing last marathon attempt, returning from injury and he shares the changes he's made for this marathon block to give him the best chance of success on race-day. Oh and did we mention he does all his training solo? Not too many world class runners train that way.GIVE SOME KUDOS
Tess gives her kudos to one of the most absurd things she's ever chosen which leads to plenty of laughs from Jack and Joel. Jack boasts about his newfound love for porridge which leads to a lengthy and unnecessary yarn from Joel about how he hates breakfast food. To close out the segment Joel gives his kudos to the elusive FTK hoodie that will be dropping soon. The hoodie we released two years ago sold like hotcakes (if they're considered breakfast food Joel wouldn't like them), so we are convinced these will move just as fast.
TWHSOITWTWATSA
Tess uncovers an upload from the Trail Kings Podcast while Jack throws shade towards a track produced in support of / in honour of / in protest of (we aren't sure) Fred Kerley. Joel closes out the segment and one of our longest episodes ever with a hilarious video of an AI martian that a man befriends in his apartment using virtual reality (you have to see it to believe it).
